While nothing is permanent in a marine environment, I have found Awlgrip to far outlast other coatings.
When it comes to masking tapes and sandpaper, I am brand loyal to 3M. Their product is always a superior one and though it is never the cheapest, it is worth the investment. Their caulks, adhesives, and polishing products are first rate as well.
There are many epoxy products in the market nowadays but I still prefer West System. Whether used for lamination, adhesives, fairing, or undercoating it produces great results. Developed by the Gougeon Brothers in 1969, West System is an industry standard the others want to meet. Any fiberglass repair work I do I use West System rather than a polyester resin. West System is a high-performance product with great technical support.
